Loida & Joey Explore
Occidental (West) End of US 66

The western end of Route 66 is on the pier in Santa Monica, California overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Be aware that a short drive north on Ocean Avenue and right turn onto Santa Monica Boulevard is needed
to stay on 66, opposite going west. Hint: EVgo chargers are in Shore Hotel parking lot (1515 Ocean).

Cafe 50s diner in Santa Monica, on Santa Monica Boulevard, has a level 2 charger in front.

The Farmer's Market in West LA near Route 66/Santa Monica Boulevard has a warren of food stalls,
with shows to watch at CBS TV City and upscale outdoor mall The Grove adjacent for added fun.

In La Verne California, Route 66 is called Foothill Boulevard as it runs along foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains where this diner is adjacent to EV chargers.

We recommend an app called A Better Route Planner.

Joey connects with a couple of Route 66 fans from Ohio who drove the road from Chicago and stopped at Mr. D's to recharge.

Murals on Mr. D's Diner walls evoke the 1950s and the diner's menu offers varied refills to hungry bellies.
